The Naiad Foundation focuses on creating lasting change in two critical areas: preserving the oceans and empowering women & girls.
In Greek mythology, Naiads were water nymphs embodying the life-giving and nurturing qualities of water, while also representing feminine strength & resilience. This perfectly aligns with our dual mission.
We expand traditional philanthropy through a blend of grants, impact-first investments, and venture philanthropy. We provide long-term support through knowledge, legal advice, time, and resources to maximise social impact.
Women & girls
When you empower a woman or girl, you lift up her entire community. We support initiatives that create opportunities for women and girls to thrive, with a focus on education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.
Oceans
Healthy oceans are vital for our planet's future. They regulate our climate, support biodiversity, and provide livelihoods for billions of people. Through strategic partnerships and targeted initiatives, we work to preserve marine ecosystems, reduce marine pollution, and promote
sustainable maritime practices.
Why we created our Foundation
We believe that living together inherently means sharing resources, responsibilities, and opportunities. This belief drives our missions to create lasting social impact through a sustainable philanthropic approach.
We chose to focus on women and oceans because both are powerful forces too often overlooked. Women, frequently treated as second-class citizens, have the resilience and vision to be true changemakers in their communities. Oceans, deeply connected to our roots in the shipping industry, are the lifeblood of our blue planet, yet they face growing threats.
Through our work, we aim to uplift women and restore the oceans, giving back to the forces that sustain and inspire us.
How we offer support
We provide more than just funding. Our support offers financial resources with hands-on expertise, focusing on start-ups and growing small- to medium-sized charities. We take a long-term approach, offering at least 5 years of knowledge, legal advice, time, and resources to help promising initiatives achieve lasting impact.
Through impact-first investments and venture philanthropy, we complement traditional grant-making to scale innovative solutions that address these vital challenges.
Our partnership approach
We believe in thorough but straightforward collaboration.
Partners undergo a straightforward three-step process: submitting a project with impact documentation, undergoing a preliminary review for mission alignment, and receiving final approval following detailed due diligence.
We remain actively involved throughout the partnership, providing guidance while measuring impact to improve outcomes continually.
